Abstract:

The rapid development of artificial intelligence technology has given rise to subversive changes in urban forms, accelerating the advent of human-machine symbiotic cities and marking the in-depth coupling of technology and urban civilization. The transformative reshaping of urban physical space, social space, and spiritual-cultural space brought by human-machine symbiotic cities is manifested in the following aspects: coexistence of humans and machines gives birth to multi-dimensional urban spaces; human-machine collaboration reshapes the rules of social operation; and machine intelligence triggers cognitive revolutions and ethical reconstruction. The subversive reshaping of urban space brings about potential social risks, such as the space competition between intelligent robots and humans, risks of employment structure transformation and pressure on social security, challenges to the adaptability of urban governance for intelligent subjects, as well as risks of social degradation and ethical anomie, which urgently needs to put forward countermeasures for moving towards a partner-based human-machine symbiotic city.
