Abstract:

The rapid development of various location-based services and the emerging 6G technologies impose increasingly stringent requirements on the performance of wireless positioning technologies. AI algorithms enable positioning techniques to break through the performance bottlenecks of traditional methods, giving rise to more advanced paradigms. First, the principles and limitations of traditional methods are elaborated. Then, a systematic review of the evolution of mainstream wireless positioning algorithms toward intelligence is presented. Finally, the enabling role of AI-empowered wireless positioning technologies for the 6G technology framework is analyzed, and the emerging challenges and opportunities in this field are discussed.
