Abstract: The measurement equipment-independent protocol MDI-QKD, which was proposed in 2012, closes all security vulnerabilities at the measurement end at the same time. The code rate and channel transmission efficiency of MDI-QKD and its previous QKD protocols are in a linear relationship, and both have a PLOB upper limit. The twofield quantum key distribution protocol proposed in 2018 not only has the characteristics of measurement equipment independence, but also breaks the upper limit of PLOB and improves the coding efficiency to the square root of the channel transmission efficiency. Through combing the theoretical and experimental progress of the MDI-QKD, TFQKD protocol and various variants of the protocol, the characteristics are briefly summarized, and the future development is prospected.
