Abstract: As a strategic emerging industry in China, 5G communication technology has an epoch-making significance for promoting medical development. At present, the distribution of medical resources in China is extremely unbalanced. The most developed cities and the coastal economically developed cities occupy abundant medical resources, while the medical resources in the western and remote areas are relatively weak. 5G communication technology will help the l arge-scale medical associations to help the western and remote areas, which will help ensure the balanced development
of the overall medical level in China. This paper introduces the concept and characteristics of 5G communication technology and telemedicine, and expounds the application of 5G communication technology in telemedicine such as remote surgery, remote video consultation, telemedicine health monitoring, and public emergency command, pointing out that 5G communication technology will promote the development of telemedicine in China.
